How to Use Vocabulary Book2

Making the Most of This Book

Book 2 helps children learn plural pointing wordsthese, those, and they — to talk about more than one thing. Following Book 1, which covered this and that, this book guides kids to understand plural forms naturally through fun stories and engaging illustrations. The book includes 15 sets of illustrations — each picture is followed by a page with some surprising details about it. Some children may need extra practice, since some mother languages are not as strict as English in terms of singular and plural nouns, so spend a little extra time on this. Just read together and enjoy learning — no grammar drills needed!

Tips for Parents

✅ Have your child count the items they see in the picture.

Encourage your child to look at the first page and tell you what they see and how many of each item there are. Counting the illustrations helps them understand an important English concept — singular and plural nouns.

✅ Introduce the pointing words these, those, and they!

First, make sure your child remembers how to point to one item using this, that, or it. Then, show them the plural formsthese, those, and they — and practice pointing to more than one thing together.

Use the illustrations to review the nouns and adjectives.

There are 15 sets of illustrations, each showing a plural noun and an adjective to describe it. If your child isn’t sure what a word means, let the illustrations help them remember. You can make it a little more challenging by asking your child to say both the singular and plural forms of a noun — for example, my book and my books.
