How to Use Vocabulary Book1
Making the Most of This Book
In Book 1, children learn to talk about one thing using words like this and that- the most basic pointing words — this, that, and it. With these pronouns, children will also learn how to use singular nouns.
In this book, you’ll meet 15 adorable babies who love to show their toy friends — but their baby talk can be hard to understand! That’s why a smart AI robot steps in to interpret what they say. There’s no need to teach these words in a traditional grammar-focused way — just read each story with your child and enjoy fun learning moments together!
Tips for Parents
✅ Ask your child whether each baby’s toy friend is close to them or a little farther away!
Ask your child, “Is the baby’s toy close or a little far away?”
Before teaching the words this, that, and it, let your child notice how we talk about things that are near and things that are a bit away. This helps them naturally understand when to use this and that in the right situation — just like in real life!
✅ Point out that each baby introduces its single toy item!
Have your child observe that each baby’s toy is a single item and mention that ‘this’ and ‘that’ are a pair of only single item.
✅ Invite your child to become the “smart AI robot” and interpret each baby’s talk!
After reading the book together, let students take turns pretending to be the AI robot who explains what the babies are saying. Encourage them to use complete sentences with this is, that is, or it is. This role-play makes learning interactive, builds confidence in speaking, and helps students naturally practice using pointing words in context.
