How to Use Vocabulary Book11

Making the Most of This Book

This book helps young ESL learners master the seven wh-question words and their question patterns with be verbs. Children have already learned and practiced various sentences using be verbs. Now it’s time for them to practice question structures with be verbs, focusing on the correct word order in sentences.

Tips for Parents

✅ Make a List of Wh-Question Words and Play the “Speed Game”!

Create a list of the wh-question words and let your child play the “Speed Game” with them. This fun activity helps children become familiar with each wh-question word and how to use them.

✅ Ask Your Child to Make Questions with ‘Be’ Verbs!

Go through a list of common be-verb sentences with your child. Start with a statement, and ask your child to change it into a question. For example:

“This is a book.”“Is this a book?”

“You are a teacher.”“Are you a teacher?”

This activity helps children practice forming questions with be verbs in a simple, hands-on way.

Use the Road Map to Practice Sentence Order!

Even though children have already practiced question patterns with be verbs, mastering wh-question patterns can still be challenging—especially for young ESL learners. Encourage them to read the book repeatedly, spending extra time practicing until they feel confident using wh-question expressions.
